RN-171 Xbee Product Testing Guide

Testing Purpose(testing the function of the product):
Testing HTTP protocol
RN-171 command

Testing environment:
Hardware:
1. RN-XV WiFly Module
2.Xbee USB Adapter
3. USB line
Software :
Serial debugging software
Note: RN-171command is sensitive to capital and small letter
Step 1: Enter command mode
First install RN-171 Xbee module on xbee USB Adapter, connect USB line and open serial debugging tool.
Set the port and baud rate, and open the serial as below:

In order to enter command mode, input $$$ and click send. If it is successful, there will be feedback word as CMD, as is shown below:

Note: 端口:port; 波特率: baud rate; 校检位:check bit; 停止位:stop bit; 数据位:data bit; 手动发送:Manually send.

Step 2: DHCP protocol
In order to get IP address through DHCP protocol, input the command( note that there is a carriage return after each command)
set ip dhcp 1+ carriage return
For most legal commands, the feedback is AOK; for illegal ones, it will be ERR.

Step 3: Connection to the routing
To manually connect to a wireless network, input
set wlan join 0+ carriage return
To set connecting password for WPA and WPA2 wireless network, input
set wlan phrase XXX + carriage return
If it is WEP wireless network, input
set wlan key XXX+ carriage return
Now we can search for the surrounding wireless network, input
scan+ carriage return

Now we can manually connect to the wireless network which has set password, input
join TP-LINK_D93F46+ carriage return
or join # 8+ carriage return
The following figure shows that it has connected successfully:

Step 4: HTTP protocol
Set the addresses of server and DNS, input
set ip host 0+ carriage return
set dns name www.url.com+ carriage return
Set HTTP port, input
set ip remote 80+ carriage return
Set the GET request sent out when opening the port:
set comm remote GET$/... + carriage return
Set the correct format for data sent to web server, input
set opt format 1+ carriage return (HTML header based on broadcast)
Finally, open the link, input
open+ carriage return
If all the input is right, you will see the similar figure as below:
